How does it work?

Data Active responds to requests for inquiry from the community. After a project proposal process, annual priorities are established, and project work commences. Data activists and interns from throughout Sonoma County work collaboratively to complete community-driven projects.

Data Active engages with and creates data in service of the community and aims to be highly responsive and accountable to the community.

Data Active projects help answer important questions or offer insight into how the community perceives important issues such as:

  • Where do non-English speaking residents seek aid during natural disasters?
  • Where are there quality bilingual and bicultural preschool programs?
  • What percentage of parents would prefer to send their children to dual-language learning programs?
  • Which apartment complexes are most welcoming of non-English speaking residents?

Data Active is a community-driven initiative: a select group of data projects are chosen each year by the community, for the community.
